Keys to Excellence

The Keys to Excellence Awards recognize and reward employees within the Division of Finance & Business Services for outstanding service and achievement. Award winners will be announced at a division-wide awards ceremony. The 2023 ceremony will be held on October 30, 2023.

Award Categories

6 Outstanding Staff Awards

An “Excellence” nomination alone signifies the high esteem in which these individuals are held by their peers and business associates. The selection committee has the very difficult task of narrowing the large list down to just 6 individuals. Our individual winners will each receive a $500.00 award and a special memento.

1 Outstanding Team Award

Teamwork is defined as the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. In other words, teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The selection committee has the very difficult task of narrowing the large list down to just one team. Our team winners will each receive a maximum of a $200.00 award and a special memento (up to a total of $2,000 per team).

1 Innovation Award

The Innovation Award recognizes employees at all levels in the Division for ideas that result in new initiatives or improvements in existing processes within the Division. Our Innovation recipient will receive a $500.00 award and a special memento.

1 New Employee Impact Award

The New Employee Impact Award recognizes employees at all levels in the Division who have been employed by the Division for less than two years for commitment to excellence through outstanding customer service, leadership, initiative, and responsible stewardship. Each recipient will receive a $500.00 award and a special memento.

1 Visionary Award

This award recognizes an administrator (Director Level and above) for visionary leadership and demonstrated success in advancing the mission of the division. The selection committee has the very difficult task of narrowing the large list down to just one administrator for each year. Our Visionary Award winner will receive a $500.00 award and a special memento.

Eligibility

All classified and non-classified employees within the Division of Finance & Business Services who meet the following criteria:

  • May not have won any of the following awards in the previous year: Division of Finance and Business Services Keys to Excellence Individual, Team, or Visionary.
  • Must be a full-time employee and budgeted at least 50%.
  • Visionary Award must have the title of Director (or related title) or above. For all other awards, must have a title below the level of Director (or related title).
  • Must have a minimum of two years of service within the nominating department.
  • Eligibility for the team awards is based on the same criteria outlined above, except that the majority of the members on a nominated team must have a minimum of one year of service within the nominating department.

Nomination Process

Anyone may submit a nomination for the Excellence Awards. Nominations should be made on the prescribed Nomination Form. Each award nomination packet should be submitted by September 22, 2023.

Award Selection Process and Selection Advisory Committee

An anonymous committee outside of the division will make the selections. The committee will use a specific scoring matrix, will review and score all the nominations.
